domoAcustic Panel

ETSAM, 2020. Parametric workshop & Projects 7

In the process of developing an acoustic prototype, diverse absorbent materials and geometries are carefully selected and subjected to an in-depth analysis of their sound absorption performance through Grasshopper.

The acoustic simulations provide a dynamic visualization of sound wave behavior, showcasing their patterns of reverberation, absorption, and transmission.

Ultimately, a foldable origami-inspired acoustic panel is selected, designed to dynamically respond to ambient sound.

The acoustic membrane is designed to absorb sound generated by social events within the surrounding space. The modular, triangulated membrane can be produced as an individual element but is envisioned to span across the ceiling and floor of the spaces it inhabits.

Finally, I developed a responsive acoustic absorber model utilizing an Arduino and a microphone to dynamically interact with sound.
